The Joys of Childhood Sports: Stephen Curry’s Perspective on Playtime in the Backyard

Stephen Curry has recently revealed that he is not pushing his children towards becoming athletes. In a conversation with PEOPLE regarding his collaboration with Rakuten to promote Black designers in the upcoming NBA season, the 35-year-old Golden State Warriors player also mentioned that he is encouraging his three kids to try out various sports at home.

According to Curry, we are currently engaging in backyard sports as a family. He has three children – daughters Riley and Ryan, aged 11 and 8 respectively, and son Canon, who is 5 years old. The activities are not too organized, particularly for his youngest child, who loves all types of sports but has the attention span of a typical 5-year-old. The main aim is to boost their confidence and encourage them to find joy in everything they do. Curry believes that nowadays, it is crucial for children not to feel pressured to succeed or keep up with their peers.

According to him, his top priority is ensuring that his children are enjoying themselves no matter what they do. He acknowledged that they face a great deal of pressure and demands on a regular basis, so he wants them to have fun and appreciate their childhood. Additionally, Curry has mentioned that his eldest daughter, Riley, is showing an inclination towards sports, and her passion is something he can relate to.

Curry shared in July that he has exposed his kids to almost every sport there is. He proudly mentioned that his daughter Riley is currently hooked on volleyball and has been showing impressive enthusiasm towards practicing and dribbling the ball around the house. Curry acknowledged how Riley has found something she loves and is passionate about, which makes her eager to work hard at it. On a different note, Curry’s wife Ayesha talked about the challenges of being a young mother and trying to balance motherhood and career in May of this year.

During an interview on Skimm’d From The Couch, Ayesha spoke about how she became a successful woman at a young age while others were still figuring out their lives in college. Although she loved being a mom, Ayesha had aspirations to do more with her life. She discovered her passion for cooking when she started a recipe blog, which has now expanded into a thriving business that includes various restaurants, cookbooks, and a TV show. Ayesha’s children are also showing interest in the culinary world, with her daughter Riley exhibiting impressive skills in the kitchen.
