LeBron James Pays Tribute to Chadwick Boseman with a ‘Wakanda Forever’ Salute: ‘Rest in Paradise, King’

LeBron James, the famous basketball player, honored Chadwick Boseman with a moment of silence before game five of the play-off series between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday. During the tribute, James knelt down, closed his eyes, and made the “Wakanda forever” salute, crossing his arms over his chest, to show his respect to the actor who passed away on Saturday. Additionally, the three-time NBA champion pointed upwards towards the sky as a sign of recognition.

On Instagram, James paid tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman by sharing a photo of the two together and writing “Rest in Paradise King”. The NBA also remembered former player Cliff Robinson and college coach Lute Olson who passed away recently. Boseman, known for his role in the movie 21 Bridges, was a fan of the NBA and even helped Victor Oladipo during the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Boseman had been privately battling colon cancer for four years before his family announced his passing with a black-and-white portrait on his social media accounts. The announcement became the most-liked tweet ever with 6.4 million likes. Boseman made history as the first black superhero to star in a standalone film in the Marvel franchise with Black Panther in 2018. The film, set in the fictional African country of Wakanda, received critical acclaim and grossed over $1 billion globally, making it the first comic book movie to be nominated for best picture at the Oscars.
